From a young age, my interest in finance stemmed from many afternoons at my grandfather's small coin store. In high school, I interned at a mortgage banking firm and learned about credit and money transactions. While at Yale, I have explored different opportunities to extend my knowledge of finance and investing. I am a member of the Yale Student Investment Group on campus and have analyzed companies and produced pitch ideas for both the Industrial and Technology, Media, and Tele-communication industry groups. I am excited to work together with the rest of the board in making investment education fun and accessible at Yale.
Having enjoyed financial experiences at Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, and Red Hook Management, I have been able to narrow my financial interests to primarily investment banking, portfolio management, wealth management and investing. My goal in leading YUDI is to spread investment education around campus so that anyone who wants to learn about this topic can have that opportunity. Understanding the financial theory behind investing is important, but at YUDI we are determined to take this theory and turn it into application, so our members can learn not only by listening but, more importantly, by doing.
Beyond the experience of developing my own portfolio over the past 3 years, I have an extensive background in chemical physics and cancer therapy research. I believe this background has built a strong work ethic based on critical thinking and logical process. I hope to apply these new found skills to business and finance by creating an educational group on campus aimed at teaching undergrads. My dedicated team of cofounders and I are going to teach new investors how to approach the market without fear and build their own portfolio wisely.
YUDI provides a great opportunity for students to learn about finance and investing. My goal is to continue learning and to encourage other students to do the same. Our group has grown tremendously in last two years and I look forward to working with the board to continue to make our organization better.
I first became interested in finance during middle school when I began to research and trade stocks with the help of my grandfather, particularly focusing on the tech industry. In high school, I began to follow the market more closely and manage my budding portfolio. At Yale, I’ve continued learning about finance through the Yale Daily News Business team and YUDI. As Head of Development and Alumni Relations, I hope to continue YUDI’s mission of raising financial literacy and create opportunities for YUDI members to connect with those already working in the industry.
Originally joining YUDI as an ecology & evolutionary biology major, I had little to no experience in finance or investing. However, I did have a strong drive to learn, and that is exactly what YUDI has helped me do. I hope that this organization can benefit others like me and kickstart a pursuit of financial knowledge, whether it leads to a career in finance or simply becoming financially literate.
I'm studying EE/CS and design + develop websites. I'm interested in exploring how effective design and algorithms can help grow businesses and solve problems. I maintain the YUDI web portal and developed the RFID tag attendance tracking system.
Internship and Communication Manager
My father has always been a major figure in my life, and due to him being a financial advisor, I grew up with a keen interest in the financial services industry. A big part of me choosing Yale was because of my interest in economics, but the education I have received about the financial world all has come from my father and from YUDI. As a student-athlete at Yale, I understand that a team is more than just a collection of people, but a group of highly motivated individuals with a strong sense of mutual commitment. The YUDI team has a special synergy, and it is exciting to see our members go from little investment knowledge to excelling in the financial world.

My interest in finance sparked at a young age when I watched my grandfather trade stocks for his savings portfolio. Sitting next to him, I would hear about various techniques and measures he would use when deciding on his investments. In high school, I learned about finance in a more systematic way as a member of our finance club, Exeter Investment Association – as President during my junior and senior years, I organized the curriculum and taught the lessons, learning how to effectively present my knowledge of finance. As Head of Development of YUDI, I will work with our board to bring more opportunities for financial education to our members, as well as increase our organization’s presence on campus.
Head of Campus Outreach
Growing up, I would go to work with my father who owned a small business. Learning from him, I developed a strong interest in finance. From classes in high school to an internship at Merrill Lynch, I gained more insight into finance and Wealth Management. Additionally, I like to explore topics related to economics through participating in Yale Model United Nations and writing for the Yale Globalist. As Head of Campus Outreach, I hope to bring new opportunities to members of YUDI and continue to improve different aspects of the organization. I learned a lot as a member of YUDI last year and am excited to be part of YUDI’s leadership.
Finance has always been ubiquitous in my life, and from an early age I have been following the markets around the world and reading and learning about the economy. However, I know financial literacy is not nearly as omnipresent as one might hope, even at Yale. Because of this, I joined YUDI and other organizations, such as Moneythink, that seek to bring knowledge and practical applications of the material to those seeking to make more sound financial decisions.
